Mt. San Jacinto College will hold a drive-through graduation celebration and virtual graduation ceremony Thursday.
The school is scheduled to hand out 3,730 degrees and certificates to 2,091 graduates, 133 more graduates than last year, and most of its 59-year history, according to a statement on the school’s website.
The drive-through event, meant to keep students safe from COVID-19, will be held Thursday on the Menifee Valley campus. Graduates, who will arrive at staggered times, may bring family, wear their cap and gown (and a mask), walk across the stage, hear their name read, and have a photo taken.
A pre-recorded virtual ceremony will begin that day on YouTube. It will include speeches from Mt. San Jacinto College Superintendent/ President Roger Schultz; Vice President of Instruction Jeremy Brown; and videos with student speaker Jennifer R. Vargas, a nursing and science major from Lake Elsinore.
The school will also a will hold a drive-through ceremony Wednesday on the Menifee Valley campus for the Class of 2020.
