MSJC to host middle college hight school

The Mt. San Jacinto Community College District and the San Jacinto Unified School District have formed the San Jacinto Middle College High School, a program that will make It easier for high school students to move from high school to college.

Approved recently by the college district’s board of trustees, the middle college high school will give high school students access to college-level courses and services at the Mt. San Jacinto campus, according to a statement.

English, dance, biology, and art classes will be offered. The one-year agreement, which will allow students to take college courses while they’re finishing high school, will begin July 1.

“The middle college high school concept raises graduation rates and serves underrepresented populations,” said Jeremy Brown, Mt. San Jacinto’s vice president of instruction,” in the statement. “It will give high school students a jumpstart on their college coursework.”
