Next, month, Mt. San Jacinto College will begin teaching higher-education classes in partnership with Perris.
Starting Oct. 11, a public speaking class, Communications 100, will be available at the city’s senior center, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Those classes will conclude Dec. 6.
Next spring, the college will begin offering general education classes and courses meant to pursue a specific career pathway. Both of those can lead to an associate’s degree or courses that will transfer to a four-year university.
The career education program, which city and school officials signed into existence last month, will also allow people to improve their job skills and find ways for career advancement, according to the statement.
“Partnering with Mt. San Jacinto College will open more doors for Perris residents to obtain college credit and certifications that will help them gain better jobs in the future,” Mayor Michael Vargas said in the statement.
