Rancho Cucamonga has opened a fourth electric vehicle charging station at the Rancho Cucamonga Sports Complex.
The $1.2 million project, which opened Jan. 29, is expected to make it more convenient for Rancho Cucamonga residents to own and operate an electric vehicle, according to a statement on the city’s website.
The charging station at 8309 Rochester Ave., in the sports complex’s parking lot, was partly paid for with grants. Pricing is 35 cents per kW.“
“We are thrilled to unveil this resource, which marks a significant step toward our city’s commitment to sustainability and clean energy,” said Fred Lyn, the city’s engineering services deputy director, in the statement. “By expanding our electric vehicle charging infrastructure, we are empowering residents to transition to electric vehicles to help us promote clean transportation.”
A 20 to 30-minute charge will allow a vehicle to travel 100 to 200 miles, depending on how well it charges. Each station has two connectors, and works with most current electric vehicles, according to the statement.
