New head chef for convention center

Daly R. Cruz has been named executive chef of the Ontario Convention Center.

Cruz, a native of El Salvador who moved to the United States when he was 13, has worked in the culinary arts for more than 25 years, according to a statement.

He will oversee all banquets, meetings and other special events at the convention center.

Since 1990, Cruz has worked for the Hyatt chain in five cities, working as a restaurant chef de cuisine, banquet chef and most recently executive sous chef at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, one of the chain’s largest properties.

“We are delighted to have Chef Daly join our staff and look forward to his years of experience and creativity enhancing our award-winning cuisine,” said Michael Krouse, the convention center’s president and chief executive officer, in the statement. “He excels at creating customized menus to make each event special and unique.”
