OIA adds Dallas flights

Southwest Airlines will begin offering non-stop service to and from Ontario International Airport to Love Field in Dallas this month.

The daily flights are scheduled to begin Jan. 15, said Jesse Perez, station manager for Southwest Airlines at Ontario International.

On a typical day, the flight from Dallas will arrive at 7:25 a.m. About 30 minutes later, a flight will leave Ontario International for Love Field, one of two major airports that serve the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

Southwest Airlines, which is based in Dallas, decided about three months ago to begin offering the Dallas flights in an out of Ontario International, Perez said.

“I don’t think it had anything to do with the change of ownership,” said Perez, referring to the Ontario International Airport Alliance’s takeover of the airport from the city of Los Angeles last November. “But we’re always glad when we’re able to add non-stop service, and we’re hoping we can add more.”

The cost of the flights was not available.
