A little more 500,000 airline passenger traveled through Ontario International Airport in August, a 10 percent increase compared with August 2018, according to data.
In all, the airport accommodated 504,000 travelers – 479,000 domestic and 25,000 international, which were year-over-year increases of 9.9 percent and 13.3 percent, respectively, the Ontario International Airport Authority reported.
During the first eight months of this year, nearly 3.6 million passengers arrived and/or departed through Ontario International, a 7.5 percent increase compared with the same period in 2018.
Domestic travelers totaled nearly 3.4 million, a six percent increase, while the number of international passengers rose 43 percent, to more than 200,000, from January through August.
“The continued growth in passenger volume is a great source of pride for all of us who are dedicated to developing a first-rate international gateway for Southern California,” said Mark Thorpe, the authority’s chief executive officer, in a statement.
Air freight shipments registered 65,514 tons in August, topping August of last year by 28 tons, according to the statement.
