Ontario International Airport posted a solid month in October.
Passenger traffic was up 5.6 percent year-over-year, with 380,584 passengers serviced during that month, according to data released Monday by Los Angeles World Airports, the agency that owns the airport.
Cargo was also up 10 percent in October, as 46,840 tons – both mail and regular freight – passed through the airport, LAWA reported in its monthly assessment of activity at Ontario International.
As it has all year, international traffic continued to be a major driver at Ontario International: AeroMexico and Volaris, the airport’s two international carriers, served 8,488 passengers in October, 17.7 percent year-over-year increase.
Both of those airlines are expected to finish 2015 strong, as is Ontario International in general, said Jess Romo, the airport’s manager.
“The outlook for the last two months of the year is good,” Romo said in a statement. “We expect to end the year in positive territory.”
Southwest Airlines served nearly two million passengers at Ontario International during the first 10 months of this year, followed by US Airways with 359,232 passengers and American Airlines with 349,751 travelers during that time, according to LAWA.
LAWA is an agency of the city of Los Angeles. It also owns Los Angeles International Airport.
