OIA passenger count stays strong

Passenger traffic at Ontario International Airport was up in September, the 13th consecutive month the airport has recorded growth in that category.

That’s the longest period of sustained passenger growth since 2007, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Ontario International Airport Authority, which oversees day-to-day operations at the airport.

In all, 369,156 passengers passed through Ontario International last month, an increase of 5.6 percent compared with September 2016. During the first nine months of this year, Ontario International accommodated more than 3.3 million passengers, a year-over-year jump of 6.8 percent.

International traffic fell 7.3 percent in September compared with one year earlier, but was up 2.7 percent during the first nine months of 2017, year-over-year.

Freight tons were up 11.3 percent in September and 14.2 percent for the year so far, year, according to the statement.
