Omnitrans passengers must wear a mask before being allowed to board.
A non-medical face mask, scarf, bandana, handkerchief or any dense cloth are acceptable, according to a statement on the transit agency’s website.
Anyone not wearing a mask or some covering will not be allowed to ride.
A covering must have no holes and be secured to the ears or back of the head, concealing the mouth and nose. Homemade masks are preferred, as medical grades and N95 masks are being saved for healthcare workers and emergency responders.
Omnitrans, the largest public transit agency in Southern California, has made significant changes to its service in the last several weeks to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including a limit of 20 passengers per bus.
The mask requirement, announced Wednesday, is in keeping with the county’s order that all residents must wear masks while outside.
