Amer Jakher has been named Beaumont’s director of public works/city engineer.
Jakher, who previously held the same job in Colton, has more than 20 years experience in public works, engineering, construction management and working with waste water systems, according to a city statement.
The Public Works Department is responsible for plan checking, street and sewer maintenance and other functions, according the statement.
Jakher is a licensed professional engineer with the state of California. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from San Diego State University and a master’s degree in public administration from Cal State San Bernardino.
Jakher’s appointment was announced March 21.
