Gene Valdez has left Citizens Business Bank to join the private sector.
Valdez, who has worked in banking for approximately 30 years, stepped down May 11 as senior vice president and business center manager with the Ontario-based bank, according to a statement he released.
Valdez is now operating The CEO Teachers, a business coaching and consulting firm.
“I had a wonderful time at Citizens Business Bank and I enjoyed the people there, but I really think it’s time for me to be an entrepreneur,” Valdez said during an interview. “I really feel like I can help people arrange business loans and get their businesses started.”
Valdez has also worked for Ontario-based Community Bank and Pacific Mercantile Bank, which is headquartered in Costa Mesa.
His new business, which also works with businesses that want to expand, has already attracted five clients, Valdez said.
