Cindi Peterson Tompkins has been named San Bernardino County’s director of human resources.
Tompkins, who will begin work Oct. 31, will be in charge of providing services to the county’s 22,000 employees, managing a 143-member staff and overseeing an $18 million budget, according to a county statement.
Prior to joining the county, Tomkins spent 13 years working for Esri in Redlands, the geographic information system (GIS) software company that has more than 3,000 employees and does business worldwide.
Before that, Tompkins worked for Avery Dennison Corp., which manufactures labeling and packaging materials.
“We are proud to have someone of Cindi’s background join the county,” county board chairman James Ramos said in the statement. “I believe she will bring a wealth of experience and ideas to benefit our employees.”
