Guy Raz

On The Move

Guy Raz of National Public Radio will be the commencement speaker at Pitzer College, scheduled to be held May 13 at the Stephen L. Glass Commencement Plaza.

Raz, the host, co-creator and editorial director of two of NPR’s most popular programs – “How I Built This” and “TED Radio Hour” – was selected by members of the Class of 2017 to deliver this year’s remarks, according to a statement.

For years Pitzer has let its graduating seniors select their commencement speaker. Raz, who has hosted “All Things Considered,” NPR’s popular afternoon newsmagazine show, was chosen from approximately 60 candidates, according to the statement.

A globetrotting correspondent before he joined NPR, Raz will donate his $5,000 honorarium to The Dream US, which helps undocumented students get academic scholarships.
