San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman has been elected to chair the Southern California Association of Governments’ transportation committee.
Hagman will oversee the committee, which makes recommendations to the association regarding mobility, air quality, transportation control measures and communications, according to a statement.
“I am humbled by the confidence shown in me by my colleagues,” Hagman said in a statement when his election was announced earlier this month. “Safe and reliable modes of transportation allow our residents and businesses to take advantage of all available opportunities to live and thrive.”
The transportation committee is SCAG’s largest, with 60 members. It oversees several major programs, including the association’s regional transportation plan and transportation improvement program.
The association is mandated by the federal government to provide a long-range transportation plan for Southern California. That plan, which projects out 20 years, is updated every four years, according to the statement.
