Fontana Mayor Acquanetta Warren has been selected to participate in the Governing Institute’s Women in Government Leadership Class of 2018.
Warren will be the only elected representative from California to participate in the year-long program, which “promotes and supports elected women leaders across the nation,” according to a statement on the city’s website.
Warren’s selection was announced Tuesday.
She plans to remain focused on making sure Fontana’s interests are addressed on the county, state and national levels, and her participation in the program will allow her to interact with elected leaders throughout the country, according to the statement.
The Governing Institute promotes better government through research and education, producing information that helps public sector leaders govern more effectively.
It is a division of e.Republic, a media and research company in Folsom that concentrates on state and local government and education.
