Harris, an English instructor at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley, was one of four recipients of the award, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.

Marisela Recendez, a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher at Myra Linn Elementary School in Riverside; Melanie Oliver, a first- and second-grade instructor at Highland Elementary School in Norco and Michelle Cherland, a second-grade teacher at Carillo Ranch Elementary School in Indio were the other winners.

All four winners will advance to state competition, which will be held in August, the report stated.
