Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Dennis Michael was part of a delegation that met at the White House Wednesday with First Lady Michelle Obama.
Michael, representing the National League of Cities, traveled to Washington, D.C., for an event honoring cities that are participating in the “Let’s Move! City’s, Towns and Counties” program, according to a report in The Daily Bulletin.
Rancho Cucamonga has been part of that program, which is led by the first lady. “Let’s Move!” seeks to build healthier communities and make certain that young people’s health is a top priority for future generations, the report stated.
Michael was invited to speak at the event.
In July, Rancho Cucamonga was recognized by “Let’s Move” for its work to improve community health, and the city has also been recognized by the White House for those efforts, the report stated.
