Steven W. Friedrichsen, dean of the College of Dental Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, has been named the school’s interim provost.
Friedrichsen, who will maintain his duties as head of the dental college, will serve as provost on a part-time basis, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
He will assume some of the duties formerly performed by Provost and Chief Operating Officer Gary M. Gugelchuk, who was named the school’s interim president last month when Philip Pumerantz retired.
Western University is looking for a permanent president and has hired an outside search agency to assist in that effort, the report stated.
