Luke Watson has been named Temecula’s community development director.
Watson, who began his new position last month, has held a variety of positions with the city during the past 10 years, was selected after a four-month search, according to a city release.
The community development director position opened up when Armando Villa left to take a job with Imperial County.
Watson, who has been the city’s interim community development director since Villa’s departure, has a background in long-range planning, government grants and housing.
While serving as interim director, Watson oversaw the department’s planning, code enforcement and building and safety divisions, according to the release.
