Lt. Dario Robinson of the San Bernardino Police Department has been named Cal Poly Pomona’s chief of police.
Robinson, a Cal Poly alumnus, was one of 50 applicants for the job, according to multiple reports.
The two other finalists were Hector Rodriguez, chief of police with the Santa Ana Unified School District, and Perry Griffith, a lieutenant with the Los Angeles Police Department.
All interviews were conducted in October.
Robinson earned a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with a minor in criminal justice while he was a student at Cal Poly.
He began his law enforcement career with the Pomona Police Department in 1993 and moved to the San Bernardino Police Department six years later, where he established the department’s first community outreach program, the reports stated.
