ONT braces for heavy Thanksgiving travel

Ontario International Airport expects a 12 percent increase in passenger traffic during the Thanksgiving holiday.

More than 212,000 passengers will use the airport from Nov. 17 to Nov. 27, the busiest Thanksgiving travel season for the airport since 2007, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.

That prediction is based on current airline schedules and reservations. Passenger volume is expected to surpass 21,000 on Nov. 19 and Nov. 27.

“We are gearing up for a busy holiday travel season and can’t wait to see more air travelers experience our airport,” said Atif Elkadi, the authority’s chief executive officer in the statement.  “Customers can expect more amenities and services.”

To meet the increased demand, 2,200 extra parking spaces will be available in Lot 5, which is east of Terminal 4. Travelers are asked to pre-book discount contactless parking at https://www.flyontario.com/parking/lots for the quickest curb-to-gate service.
