Ontario International Airport has been named the Favorite Alternative Airport by a leading travel trade publication.
Trazee Travel, an online journal aimed at travelers between 25 and 40 years old, recognized Ontario International in its fifth annual ranking of airports worldwide, which it published earlier this month.
The rankings were based on a survey of Trazee’s readers conducted between December 2018 and March of this year.
Besides ranking airports, trazeetravel.com recognizes preferred air carriers, airport dining and retail, frequent-flyer programs and hotels and other air travel-related categories. It did not name a favorite alternative airport outside the United States, or any that ranked as runners-up to Ontario International.
“We are grateful to Trazee Travel and its readers for this high honor,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in a statement on the city’s website. “It is recognition that we are on track with our plan to develop a first-rate international aviation gateway for Southern California, free of the congestion and frustration that often diminishes the customer experience at larger airports.”
The award is the latest recognition for Ontario International, the nation’s fastest-growing airport and its top airport for outgoing cargo. Since its return to local control in November 2016, Ontario International has re-emerged as a transportation hub and economic driver for the Inland Empire, according to the statement.
