ONT nearly back to pre-pandemic passenger levels

ONT posts another passenger gain

Ontario International Airport’s passenger count continued to climb in August, according to data released this week.

The airport accommodated more than 567,000 passengers last month, an 11 percent year-over-year increase, the Ontario International Airport Authority reported on its website.

International travel also improved.

The airport attracted 40,000 international travelers in August, nearly three times as many as in August 2022. It was the second consecutive month that category topped 40,000.

Ontario International surpassed four million total passengers during the first eight months of the year, a 12 percent increase compared with the first eight months of 2022.

“Demand for air travel remained strong in August and for the year, outpacing growth at other California airports, while consumer confidence in our facilities, services, and amenities was equally strong,” said Atif Elkadi, the airport’s chief executive officer, in the statement. “Our mission is to deliver a world-class international gateway for Southern California, and the data shows we are living up to our promise.”
