ONT nearly back to pre-pandemic passenger levels

ONT stayed strong in March

Ontario International Airport accommodated 557,000 passengers in March, an 11 percent increase from exactly one year earlier.

That number was made up of 516,000 domestic travelers and 41,000 International passengers, year-over-year increases of 8.3 percent and 66 percent, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.

During the first three months of 2024, Ontario International handled 1,476,482 passengers: 1,353,930 domestic and 122,252, a year-over-year increase of 9.9 percent.

Domestic travel was up by 6.4 percent during that time, while the airport’s international passengers was nearly 75 percent higher than it was during the first three months of 2023, the airport authority reported April 17.

Southwest Airlines [37.7 percent], American Airlines [16.3 percent], Frontier Airlines [12.1 percent], Delta Airlines [9.7 percent] and Alaska Airlines [7.3 percent] were the top five passenger carriers at Ontario International in March.

Freight shipments declined by 3.9 percent in March and one percent for the first quarter, year-over-year, the airport authority reported.
