Ontario International Airport is reducing its operations and services in April.
Passenger flights at ONT will be reduced by one-third – from 66 daily departures in March to 46 this month – because of a decline in commercial air travel brought on by the Coronavirus, according to a statement on the airport’s website.
The number of passengers will be reduced significantly, while safe-at-home orders remain in place in states, counties and cities across the U.S.
Service to all nonstop destinations will be maintained except for Houston Intercontinental and Taiwan. Both passenger terminals stay open during flights, and security screening will continue, according to the statement.
“We continue to collaborate with our airport partners and stakeholders to plan for significantly reduced flight operations, and expect demand to remain suppressed through the summer and possibly through the end of the year,” said Mark Thorpe, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “In light of the reduced flight schedules, we are [also] making adjustments to airport operations and services to reduce operating expenses.”
