More than 1.8 million travelers are expected to use Ontario International Airport between May 26, the Friday before Memorial Day, and September 4, Labor Day, according to a statement released by the airport.
That estimate, which is based on current airline schedules, would be a 7.1 percent year-over-year increase if it ends up being accurate. More than 2.3 million seats would be occupied, 9.1 percent more than were used in the summer of 2022.
Nearly 80 percent of the 2.3 million seats being offered this summer are expected to be filled. Nine percent more seats will be available this summer than were available last summer.
“Our airport is exceeding pre-pandemic passenger volume, and despite higher air fares, summer travel demand is strong,” said Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “We are pulling out the stops to set a positive tone this summer.”
