More than 1,000 classic cruisers, convertibles and hot rods are expected to sign up for this year’s Route 66 Crusin’ Reunion, which is scheduled to be held this weekend in Ontario.
The three-day event, sponsored by the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, celebrates both the country’s love affair with the automobile and the legendary Route 66, also known as the Main Street of America.
The festival is three days of cruising, contests, live entertainment and food, according to the man responsible for putting the event together.
“We are looking forward to another great event this year,” said Michael Krouse, president and chief executive officer of the convention and visitors bureau, in a statement. “This is a perfect way to spend the weekend – enjoy our historic, tree-lined Euclid Avenue, check out the cars and listen to some great music.”
To be considered a classic, a car may have been built no later than 1975. Vehicles can be registered on site the day of the event or ahead of time by visiting Route66CrusinReunion.com, the event’s official website.
Admission is free. The event will be held on Euclid Avenue, from Holt Boulevard to I Street, on Sept. 18 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
