Michelle Ouellette, a partner with Best, Best & Krieger LLP, has been named president of the Riverside Art Museum’s board of trustees.
A longtime board member, Ouellette said she plans to spend much time making the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & History a reality, according to a statement.
An environmental law attorney, Ouellette has donated legal work to the project’s development, including helping with negotiations between the museum officials and the city, drafting the legal agreements and working to secure funding for the museum.
“The Cheech,” as the project is informally known, will put the actor and comedian’s collection of Chicano art on public display.
The collection will be displayed in what is now the city’s main library, which is next door to the Mission Inn. Once a new library is built, retrofitting of the current facility will begin, probably next year, according to a statement.
