A weekly newspaper that covers the Coachella Valley is scheduled to be launched Feb. 21.
The Desert Enterprise will be published on Fridays and will be available at 200 news racks and retail outlets in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells and La Quinta, according to a report first published in The Press-Enterprise.
The paper, which will have an initial run of 10,000 copies, will cover business, schools, government, youth sports and arts and entertainment. Its content will be available online at PE.com, according to the report.
Freedom Communications, which bought The Press-Enterprise last year, wants eventually to return that daily newspaper to the Coachella Valley, according to the report.
