Packaging company to open in Chino

A packaging manufacturer that specializes in products for food companies and other contract packagers will expand into Chino.

ePac Flexible Packaging, which makes packaging that can be designed and produced quickly, will move into a 25,000-square-foot building at 5475 Daniels St. next month, according to a statement.

The facility, which will make products primarily for Southern California clients, is expected to employ about 70 people.

An exact move-in date was not released.

Based in Delray Beach, Fla., ePac Flexible Packaging will have fifteen locations in the United States by the end of this year, six of which are up and running. The company has also announced plans to expand into Europe.

ePac Flexible Packaging works mostly with small to medium-sized businesses. It uses the most up-to-date digital technology to design and make package orders in three weeks or less. Its products may include high-definition graphics designed for a target market.

“In each market we have gone into, local small and medium size businesses see ePac as an alternative to long lead times, high minimum order requirements, and overseas packaging suppliers,” said Walid Boustani, managing partner of ePac LA, in the statement.

San Bernardino County’s Economic Development Agency worked hard to lure ePack Flexible Packaging, securing for it $2.3 million worth of tax credits through the California Competes program. California Competes gives income tax credits to businesses that are expanding within or moving into California.

The county’s workforce development agency is also the company with staffing, according to the statement.
