Less than two years from now, gasoline-powered leaf blowers will be illegal in Palm Springs.
The city council passed an ordinance last week banning their use, although electric-powered blowers will still be allowed, according to a statement.
The new ordinance is scheduled to go into effect Jan. 19, 2019.
Residents have long complained about the noise and pollution generated by the devices, which are used mostly by professional gardeners. The electrical blowers are considered more environmentally friendly.
