Anthony Mejia has been named Palm Springs’ next city clerk.
Currently chief city clerk in South Pasadena, Mejia’s appointment was announced Monday by City Manager David H. Ready.
Mejia, who has more than 13 years experience in local government, is scheduled to take office Dec. 4.
“Anthony has a wealth of experience as a city clerk in California and a deep understanding of the rules and regulations that govern municipalities and the importance of open and transparent government,” Ready said in a statement. “There is no doubt his expertise will be a tremendous asset for Palm Springs local government.”
In 2010, Mejia was given his certified municipal clerk designation by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Four years later he was certified as a master municipal clerk.
Before working in South Pasadena, Mejia was city clerk in San Luis Obispo and Pomona and deputy city clerk in Riverside and San Clemente, according to the statement.
