Work crews on State Route 111 in Palm Spring will soon operate at night instead of in the daytime.
The move, agreed upon by the city and the California Department of Transportation, is in response to residents’ concerns about long delays and traffic closures during the daytime, according to a Caltrans statement.
Starting March 3, construction will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday. No work will be done on Friday, Saturday or Sunday night.
Nighttime paving is expected to be completed by late March. Bus pad construction will follow at 11 SunLine bus stops within the project area, which runs along Gene Autry Trail, between Vista Chino and East Palm Canyon Drive.
Updated schedule information will be posted on the project website, www.SR111RoadwayProject.com. That construction is expected to be completed by the end of April, according to the statement.
