Palm Springs VillageFest, the city’s Thursday night street fair that was suspended because of the pandemic, will resume July 1.
With COVID-19 cases down, the city council voted May 27 to allow a smaller version of the popular street fair with safety protocols still in effect, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Starting July 1, Palm Canyon Drive will be closed from Amado Road to Tahquitz Canyon Way to accommodate VillageFest.
Museum Way between Palm Canyon Drive and Belardo Road and Belardo Road between Andreas Road and Tahquitz Canyon also will be closed.
By summer, the fair is expected to return to its regular 7-10 p.m. schedule.
The city will also hold “Palm Springs Back in Business,” a one-time street fair between Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon drives, from 5-8 p.m. June 15. Starting at 3 p.m. that day, Tahquitz Canyon Way will be closed between Palm Canyon Drive and Indian Canyon Drive until 9 p.m., according to the statement.
