Palm Springs residents are being asked to attend a community workshop on Desert Community Energy, the city’s new locally controlled energy provider.
Starting in April, Desert Community Energy will be Palm Springs’ default electricity provider for residences and businesses, according to a statement.
Three meetings are scheduled to be held:
- March 7 at Palm Springs City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way;
- March 11 at James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, 480 Tramview Road;
- March 17, at Demuth Park Community Center, 4365 Mesquite Ave.
All three sessions are scheduled to be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Desert Community Energy was established by Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and Palm Desert to provide clean energy at competitive prices.
Once the system is in place, Palm Springs residents and businesses will be automatically enrolled in its 100 percent carbon free plan, which is meant to help reduce the city’s carbon footprint, according to the statement.
