BUZZ, the popular downtown trolley in Palm Springs, is getting a second life.
The city council Wednesday voted to operate the system starting in November through June 30, 2020, according to a statement on the city’s website.
The most recent version of BUZZ ended June 30.
Council members acted on the recommendation of the SunLine Transit Agency, the entity that provides bus service during peak hours in the Coachella Valley and downtown Riverside.
The Palm Springs council and SunLine transit officials will evaluate the program at the end of the 2019 fiscal year. Whether to operate the system past the end of June 2020 will be up to SunLine Transit.
BUZZ is scheduled to run from noon to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
SunLine Transit will manage and pay for the system and purchase the trolley cars, according to the statement.
