Maria Perez has been named Apple Valley’s employee of the quarter for the first quarter of 2022.
Hired as a part-time custodial aide in 2014, Perez was made a full-time employee five years later, according to a statement on the town’s website.
Today, Perez and her team are responsible for maintaining the main the main Town Hall building as well as its lobbies, restrooms and conference rooms.
“Maria is a staff favorite here at the Town,” said Mayor Kari Leon in the statement. “She is very knowledgeable of Town procedures and spends much of her time caring for the workspaces of many of our employees. Maria also takes on the challenge of training new staff members and ensures they deliver the same great customer service that she provides.”
Perez was honored at the Feb. 22 town council meeting. Nominations for employee of the quarter are submitted by co-workers or town management, with the town manager selecting the honoree.
