Perris has approved an internet assistance service program that will help local students who have lost internet access because of school closures related to COVID-19.
The program, approved by the city council this month, will last no more than three months per student and is restricted to Perris residents, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Applicants cannot make more than 80 percent of this year’s income limits for their household size as established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which is providing the funding.
Households must have a K-12 and/or a college or university student that uses that household as their primary residence.
All funds must be dispersed by the end of the month. Applications and W-9 forms can be picked up at City Hall outside the development services office or from the city’s website, www.cityofperris.org.
