The Pomona City Council has denied a permit for a electronic waste collection and transfer facility.
By a 4-3 vote, the council decided Monday to leave in place the planning commission’s decision to deny the proposed facility a conditional use permit, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
New Jersey-based AERC Recycling Solutions, which helps its clients dispose and recycle items that include sensitive data and hazardous materials, wanted to build the facility at 1256 E. Third St.
In December, the planning commission deadlocked on the proposal with a 3-3 vote, which effectively denied the facility. It’s not known whether AERC Recycling plans to appeal the decision.
AERC Recycling has more than 2,500 corporate clients. It owns and operates four recycling facilities nationwide, including one in Hayward, Ca., according to the company’s website.
