Prime Healthcare announces maternal care programs

Ontario-based Prime Healthcare has established maternal care programs at two hospitals it owns in Illinois.

The Centers of Excellence for Maternal Care at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago and Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields will strengthen obstetrical services, which will allow healthcare workers to provide mothers and newborns with premium obstetrical and neonatal care, according to a Prime Healthcare statement.

Prime Healthcare also will give out $1 million in grants for maternal health initiatives in the communities it serves. That money will go to nonprofits dedicated to improving maternal health, and increasing access to prenatal and postpartum care.

“It is heartening to see hospital systems like Prime Healthcare investing in and expanding services based on community needs,” said Lynn Hopkins, chief executive officer of PrimeCare Community Health, which includes eight neighborhood locations throughout the Chicago area, in the statement.

Prime Healthcare operates 55 hospitals and more than 360 outpatient facilities in 15 states, according to the statement.
