Study: Inland hospitals among best in U.S. for maternity care

Prime Healthcare hospitals recognized for outstanding care

Five hospitals operated by Prime Healthcare in Ontario have been ranked among the best hospitals in their state in several medical categories.

The awards, announced Feb. 29, are based on research done by Healthgrades, a website that ranks doctors and hospitals, according to a statement.

The Prime Healthcare hospitals receiving “Top 5” state rankings are:

  • East Liverpool City Hospital, East Liverpool Ohio. Ranked third in critical care and pulmonary care;
  • Providence Medical Center,  Kansas City Kan. Third in orthopedic surgery;
  • St. Francis Medical Center, Lynwood, Calif.  Third in prostate surgery;
  • St. Joseph Medical  Center,  Kansas City. Mo. Third in orthopedic surgery;
  • St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, Mo. Fourth in pulmonary care.

“Healthgrades is proud to recognize these Prime Healthcare hospitals,” said Dr. Brad Bowman, Healthgrades’ chief medical officer and its head of data science. “Hospitals with top rankings deliver consistently superior outcomes for their patients.”

Prime Healthcare operates 44 hospitals in 14 states, treating more than 2.6 million patients a year, according to the statement.
