Program offers guaranteed admission to CSUSB

Qualified high school graduates from six San Bernardino school districts will be guaranteed admission to Cal State San Bernardino.

An agreement between the university and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools will remove the application process for students who wish to attend Cal State San Bernardino and who meet its academic requirements, according to a statement on the university’s website.

The agreement was signed Sept. 24. Seniors from Chaffey Joint Union High School District, Fontana Unified, San Bernardino City Unified, Apple Valley Unified, Victor Valley Union, and Rim of the World Unified are eligible.

“Now with the direct admission program, the path to college is even clearer for students, knowing that we can be admitted without the stress of the application process,” said Valerie Aparicio Maldonado, a senior from Cajon High School in San Bernardino City Unified, in the statement. “It removes so many barriers, and it makes higher education feel possible and within reach.”

About 6,000 students are expected to be eligible, according to the statement.
