Program to prepare students for a career in homebuilding

A new training program will help train students to work in the homebuilding industry.

The Baldy View Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California and the San Bernardino Community College District have partnered to start the Entry-Level Residential Construction Trades Training Program, according to a statement.

The program was announced recently at the community college district headquarters.

Students who complete the 275-hour program will receive a career readiness certificate that will be recognized by the Baldy View chapter.

Statewide, more than 100,000 jobs in residential construction have never been filled, according to the statement.

“Addressing the labor needs of our economy is our highest priority,” said District Chancellor Bruce Baron in the statement. “That is why we are proud to partner with the BIA Baldy View Chapter to equip students with real-world skills to be effective on the job on day one.”

Twenty seven employers who are Baldy View chapter members have agreed to give priority hiring consideration to program graduates, according to the statement.
