San Bernardino Community College District students now have extra incentive to transfer into the University of Redlands.
The district and the university have started Redlands Promise, in which district students who transfer to the Redlands campus may not have to pay tuition during their time there, according to a statement on the university’s website.
The program is scheduled to start during the upcoming academic year.
Students must be eligible to receive a Cal Grant A or B. Both are distributed by the California Student Aid Commission, a state agency that administers financial aid to students attending public and private universities, colleges, and vocational schools.
Grant A pays the same tuition and fees each year up to four years. Grant B pays a stipend only during freshman year.
This collaboration reinforces the strong partnership between SBCCD and University of Redlands,” said district Chancellor Diana Rodriguez in the statement. “The Redlands Promise also builds upon our shared commitment to provide a seamless pathway to our students to further their education.”
Students must transfer from Crafton Hills College or San Bernardino Valley College. Anyone in Redlands Promise will likely receive financial aid equal to their first year of tuition for their next three years, provided they’re enrolled as full-time students, according to the statement.
