Edward Z. Kotkin has resigned as Palm Springs’ city attorney.
Kotkin, who stepped down Feb. 28, left the position because he is engaged to be married and is leaving the area, according to a statement.
Assistant City Attorney Peter King, along with Palm Springs’ legal staff, will handle the city’s legal matters until a replacement is found. Kotkin, who served as city attorney since 2017, has agreed to help with the transition.
Kotkin was in private practice before coming to Palm Springs. He was also Indio’s city attorney and worked for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, according to reports.
