Publication gives trio of Inland universities high marks

Three Inland Empire universities have been named among the top institutions higher learning in the United States by Money magazine.

Cal State San Bernardino, Cal Baptist University, and UC Riverside were among 735 schools to make the online publication’s 2026 Best Colleges list, which evaluates colleges and universities based on value, with no numerical rankings.

Cal State San Bernardino received five stars, the highest ranking. Cal Baptist and UC Riverside each received 4.5 stars. Cal State San Bernardino was one of six Cal State campuses to receive a five-star ranking.

The magazine evaluated more than 2,400 four-year public and private nonprofit colleges nationwide before reaching its final list.

Quality of education counted for 30 percent, affordability 40 percent, and outcomes 30 percent. The latter measures a student’s success after they complete their education. Categories included graduation rates, financial aid, student debt, alumni earnings, economic mobility and student loan repayment.

The rankings are meant to help applicants identify the best higher education they can afford, according to Money.
