Regional Center to Reopen Two Buildings

The Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, site of the terrorist shooting earlier this month that left 14 people dead, will soon reopen two of its three buildings.

Buildings 1 and 2 are scheduled to reopen Jan. 4, according to a statement released Wednesday by the regional center.

Building 3, where the Dec. 2 shooting happened, will remain closed indefinitely.

About 350 iPads are being put together so employees can access their email, voice mail and other job-related records. Also, a small staff has been assembled to manage financial and administrative operations from a temporary location.

Earlier this week, regional center officials held a walk-through of Buildings 1 and 2, which are still being repaired. That work is expected to be completed shortly.”

“The outpouring of support has been tremendous.” said Lavinia Johnson, the regional center’s executive director, in the statement. “As our community continues to grieve, we’re moving ahead to ensure that our more than 30,000 consumers receive needed services and support during the holidays.”
