Restaurant Undergoes Major Overhaul

Moreno Valley is celebrating the grand re-opening of one of its longtime sit-down restaurants.

The Sizzler at the southeast corner of Perris and Sunnymead boulevards returned for business March 24th after undergoing a major renovation that lasted four months, said Michele Patterson, the city’s economic development manager.

The new and improved restaurant covers 8,100 square feet, about 1,400 square feet larger than before, and can accommodate up to 326 patrons.

It opened in 1985, one year after Moreno Valley incorporated, making it one of the city’s long-running businesses.

“It’s a lot better building with a lot more amenities than it had before,” Patterson said of the restaurant, which now has an expanded dining room. “It was always a nice building, but it’s a lot more attractive now.”

Sizzler, a steak and salad bar chain, was founded in 1958 and currently has about 270 locations throughout the United States. The company filed for bankruptcy protection in 1996 and since then has struggled to remain competitive, closing multiple locations throughout the country, according to reports.
