Retail development OK’d

Adelanto has approved a retail project that will be developed on 18 acres at the northeast corner of Highway 395 and Rancho Road.

Rancho Plaza at 395 will cover a little less than 200,000 square feet and will include a service station, a three-story, 60-room hotel, drive-thru restaurants, office space and a car wash, according to a city statement.

“This is the kind of development that Adelanto has longed to have, and it will invigorate the 395 corridor,” Mayor Richard Kerr said in the statement.

Kerr hinted at further commercial development in the High Desert city.

“This is just the beginning,” he said. “We’re telling people to stand by, because once the development ball gets rolling it’s going to be hard to stop.”

The city council approved the project Sept. 28.

At buildout, Rancho Plaza at 395 will likely create “hundreds” of jobs, developer Joseph Paulicano said in the statement.
